Tai Chi Adapted: Assisted Living, Long – Term Care, and Nursing Homes
Qigong is a like Tai Chi, it branches off of Tai Chi. It can be used a medical treatment or therapeutic. It is used and thought in hospital in China. Qigong is known to maintain a healthy mind and body for people. It can also be used in a treatment from recovery of an injury or sickness. Doing Tai Chi or Qigong daily can help with relieving stress and help with other medical issues. Some people do not know that this can also be really good for just the basic things you need in life, such as breathing, balance, organs, and many more other things. All of this can be achieved in many practices that need to be done daily.
Tai Chi came from tai chi chuan. In China tai chi chuan was a kind of martial arts. In the twentieth century, Cheng Man Ching, wanted to branch off of tai chi chuan and focus more on just tai chi, which is the health part of tai chi chuan. Chuan meant martial art, so that is why he decided to drop chuan. Qigong has more of mind, body, and energy part to it. Since tai chi is more based off of mix martial arts it is hard for some to say that it is more health. Tai Chi helps with mind and body health in ways that are very difficult. You have a lot to do with just your posture. Qigong is more used of medical uses. Even though it is used mostly for mind and body health, it is easier to learn if you do not know anything about tai chi. Qigong and tai chi are every close and can do mostly do the same things, but the both have different bases. One is more for energy and the other is more for a more healthier them. In the end you end up having the same results as the other does.
When teaching about tai chi it has to be able to do for everyone. You have to have a plan. When you teach it has to be suitable for everyone. As for living in a nursing home, the plan had to be able for both people that can stand and people in wheel chairs can do. Some things might have to be altered for them. Just to know that everything has to be equal when teaching a class like this, because it maybe hard for the residents to do if they are in a wheel chair, walker, or have a cane. They need to feel suitable and know that they can do it on their own. When in a nursing home, you are helping the residents with their blood flow, oxygen, helping them strengthen their bodies. Knowing that in most assisted living and nursing home a mid age for most places is about 86 years old. Most of the residents consider them selves as students. They lean a whole lot and get stronger over time. They make something of them selves and adapt to the learning of tai chi and qigong.
